What changed in this cabinet project
The original cabinets were structurally usable, but the dark stained finish made the kitchen feel heavier and older. Refinishing preserved the existing cabinetry while changing the visual character of the entire room.
The finished kitchen uses a soft green cabinet color, a bright contrasting island, and coordinated painted built-ins. The change demonstrates how cabinet refinishing can modernize a kitchen without removing every cabinet box.
Doors, drawer fronts, exposed frames, decorative panels, and built-in cabinetry were treated as one coordinated project so the completed rooms feel connected.
